Available Positions

Admissions

Welcome spectators, check credentials at entry gates.

Course Preparation

Assist tournament staff with event set-up, including sign installation, trash box placement, cart distribution, overall on-course preparations and maintenance during tournament.

Course Services

Supply beverages and ice to various locations on course. Distribute programs and pairings guides to the hospitality venues and around the course.

Hospitality

Act as a liason/host in various hospitality areas, greeting sponsors and checking credentials. Staff the Information Tent and Lost & Found Tent and provide general information and assistance to spectators.

Marshals

Provide gallery control during the tournament. Ensure players are not disturbed during play and enforce golf ettiquette on the golf course. Must be available both days.

Pro-Am Services

Register participants, distribute gifts and assist with pro-am draw and pro-am awards.

Scoring/Leaderboards

Assist in reporting scores from walking scorers to on-course leaderboards. The leaderboard volunteers will be posting scores via radio transmission. Volunteers must have an understanding of the game of golf and be comfortable using a radio.

Standard Bearers

Accompany a group of players during their round and display scores in relation to par. Must be able to walk 18 holes and carry the five-pound standard.

Transportation

As needed, use courtesy vehicles to drive professional golfers and tournament guests between host hotels and Riverbend Golf Club. Must have a valid California driver's license and be kowledgeable of the Fresno area.

Volunteer Tent

Work with chairpersons to register and assign volunteers as needed.

 

Walking Scorers

Record statistics and scores for golfers on clipboards and report scores to Scoring Central. Must be able to walk 18 holes and attend a mandatory training session with tournament officials during the week prior to the tournament.

How do I become a volunteer?

You need to register via a Volunteer Application. Applications for the 2008 Save Mart Shootout will be available at a later date.

Do I have to know how to play golf to be a volunteer?

It is not necessary for you to play golf to be a volunteer. Knowledge of the game helps in some positions, but your time, enthusiasm and effort are the most important things we ask you to bring to the event.

What are the requirements of a volunteer?

All volunteers are required to work a minimum of one day during the tournament. As a volunteer, you will receive food and beverages on the day you work, as well as your uniform.
